Purple Berry Tart
Whenever Mamma Nelson put these in the window, you could be sure any traveler within 10 leagues would arrive at the door. She always claimed the secret was love, but the truth was it was the rare purple berry. Only found in the local region, wild grown were considered a delicacy. A small group of creatures known as the Frulogians hold battles to the death for claim to first harvest. If they weren’t so sweet, juicy, and addictive, they might serve as the ultimate monster bait. No owner of them has ever managed to keep them long enough to try.
Some say the color of the berry comes from the goddess Chauntea. Chauntea pricked herself on a thorn from the vine many a millennial ago and the plant greedily lapped it up. Rather than destroy the plant, Chauntea took pity on it, and allowed the vine to grow strong from her sacrifice.
